I wish to express my strong support for the expansion of London Luton Airport. London Luton can and should make a major contribution to airport capacity in London and the South East as well as the Midlands and the north. In particular it can make a considerable contribution to sort and medium haul flights and take much pressure off Heathrow, making the possible third runway unnecessary. the transport link to London Luton are now first class with rail in particular and the new Dart link. Luton can also provide a considerable pool of labour from its local population and in the process and in the process will give a major boost to the local economy. Another advantage is that over-flying is much lower than is the case with other southeast airports, especially Heathrow. This is a short summary of my view and given the opportunity at the enquiry, I could make a greater oral contribution. I was the Member of Parliament for Luton North (1997-2019) and a former member of the Transport Select Committee. I spoke on a number of occasions in parliament in support of London Luton expansion. Before my parliamentary career, I wrote submissions for then trades union movement on southeast airport capacity. I hope this information is helpful. Yours, Kelvin Hopkins BA(Hons)
