Already Oldhill Wood is adversely affected by increased noise and pollution from the increase in aircraft flying over . We were advised by Luton Airport representatives that if the airport expands its aircraft/flight capacity the aircraft traffic on fair weather days will increase to one aircraft every three minutes on the flight path directly above Oldhill Wood. This intensity of aircraft traffic will adversely affect not only the quality of the residents lives but in an area of outstanding natural beauty the unique flora and fauna will also be adversely affected and this is unacceptable and unreasonable purely in the pursuit of profit. We would like the Planning Authority to ensure that Luton Airport are not allowed to destroy the beautiful and unique habitat that is Oldhill Wood nor destroy the lives of the residents of Oldhill Wood who were in residence long before Luton Airport thought of expanding. The flight path currently planned directly over Oldhill Wood is chosen purely on an economic basis without any thought of the dire consequences it will cause. Alternative flight paths are available and must be considered and the Planning Authority must be responsible for ensuring that they are.
