Good afternoon, With reference to your Luton rising letter dated 9th May 2023, we have been asked to submit our comments to you, regarding your expansion plans by 23rd June. We as residents (owner of property) at (redacted) are totally against your plans to expand any further. The noise pollution over our property at present and during the past few weeks is of great concern to us every day. It seems that throughout the summer months, the air traffic is constant, and the persistent noise is deafening . We have had no respite for weeks. If we want to watch the TV, or listen to music, during the nice weather, we have to do so with the windows and doors shut. You can forget about entertaining, because visitors are astounded by the permanent interruptions to our conversations, which alone makes us feel isolated, as we have no social life in this house. Having said this, all-other seasons are just as bad! We have (redacted) who has to wear ear defenders when staying with us. It is a battle to settle (redacted) under normal circumstances, but having her stay with us is an anxious time for all concerned! The traffic flow during the past 17 years since we moved here, has become excessive. In the early days, although we knew we lived in a flight path area, it was tolerable and the noise of the aircraft was not as bad. Our homes will decrease in value if your plans go ahead, so who will make up the value that we lose? Also, how will we ever sell our homes in the village if this expansion takes place! We would like to know what compensation we would receive if as we expect, our comments are ignored and your plans go through. The DHL plane that flies over our house in the early hours, shakes our house, which is of great concern. Why are other areas eg; Harpenden, St Albans, Milton Keynes not used as flight paths too? Surely it makes sense to move it around so that the likes of us get a well-deserved break, instead of increasing the volume of traffic in our small village. Another thing that bothers us if this goes ahead is the disruption and delays which will be caused to all of us during the road widening, which has never mentioned until this letter was received. This surprises us, because of the new rail development that was supposed to alleviate traffic. This does seem a bit under handed, as the rail network has already cost millions. Whilst we appreciate that this will give people more jobs and revenue etc, it does not make all of our personal lives any easier, living with planes flying over our homes 24/7. You say that you already support local community organisations at a level 20 times more per passenger than any other uk airport. How does that affect us as home owners, it really doesn't! Kind regards Mrs Karen Say (redacted) Sent from Outlook for Android
