I object to the expansion of Luton Airport. In order to make the UK more sustainable we need to reduce the number of flights and encourage travel by more sustainable methods. The UK should be looking to reduce airport size to help reduce flight numbers. There are issues of noise pollution. Some residents in the locality may be provided with extra noise insulation, but that will generally mean windows that they will not want to open. As a result of the climate emergency temperatures are rising so more people will want to allow air to circulate in their homes to be more comfortable in the heat, providing noise insulation will not help with this. Other residents would get no help with noise pollution and would suffer from the increased noise levels of more aircraft. The airport already attracts large volumes of car traffic, an increase in size will only increase this. Along with reducing air travel we should also be looking to reduce car travel, although the airport can encourage sustainable travel to the airport they have no control over how their passengers choose to travel to the airport, the only way of reducing traffic is to reduce the number of passenger numbers.
