I object to the plans for Luton Airport to expand its passenger capacity to 32mppa for the following reasons:- 1. The expansion of Luton Airport will undeniably result in an increase in Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. This is the critical issue with this project. I appreciate that the DCO has some good proposals to reduce GHG's for ground operations BUT decarbonising the aircraft themselves is known to be hard. Although the airport is not directly responsible for the aircraft that use it, by almost doubling its capacity IT IS responsible for facilitating the demand for more flights and thereby more emissions! Climate change is happening now we all have a responsibility to reduce our carbon emissions. 2. Passenger transport to and from the airport and the consequent noise, exhaust pollution as well as the increased traffic flows through residential estates and degradation of the living environment is a high price to pay for the residents who will be affected. 3. The inappropriate (should be illegal) parking of passenger vehicles on the nearby estates by inconsiderate users of the airport to avoid paying the car park charges is a nuisance problem now and can only get much worse. 4. Aircraft noise. Doubling the capacity of the airport means an inevitable increase in noise nuisance. The misery of more aircraft movements for those who live under the flight path can only be imagined. Luton Airport is part of the town and not placed away from the populated areas this should surely be a constraint on further expansion?
