The initial consultation was very poor - firstly it was conducted during lockdown when everyone was preoccupied with other matters. But also I think the impact on our area was not appreciated due to the distance from the airport BUT our area was very quiet so the impact is significant. So the input gathered from our community was minimal compared to the excellent consultations carried out for the A428 and Oxford / Cambridge Rail Link. In addition Luton Airport is owned by the council so my perception is that elected representatives were compromised as they wanted the new routes to enable expansion. It has not been explained well how the number of flights will increase over the years compared to what we are experiencing today - due to the summer season, stacking at peak times which is not happening now, annual growth and airport expansion. If this was clearer then I believe people would have had a more informed view.
