The expansion of Luton Airport would increase noise & air pollution in its vicinity. It is already difficult to sleep at night in warm weather with windows open due to aircraft noise. In some weather conditions there can also be exhaust gas (Kerosene) fumes hanging in the air The Airport offers ventilation schemes to alleviate these issues but it's unclear whether they pay the maintenance and running costs for these in perpetuity. The plan to allow access to New Century Park and the airport via Wigmore Lane & Eaton Green Road causes several problems:- We lose our local waste recycling facility (Tidy Tip). Wigmore Lane and Eaton Green Road become busier are widened and their junctions become traffic light controlled. The traffic on these roads and Crawley Green Road will also increase due to New Century Park access and proposed new housing developments by Bloor Homes etc on the Luton Hertfordshire border. New Century Park was supposed to be accessed via a tunnel under the Airport connected to the national road network, not our local roads. The high parking costs of the Airport force potential passengers to park on our residential streets. LBC's solution is to charge us to park in our own streets via Resident Parking schemes. LBC and their Airport should sort this out at no cost to residents. The increased traffic on Wigmore Lane Eaton Green Road and Vauxhall Way will make our access to the town centre more difficult. If LBC wished to greatly expand the Airport they should not have built our estates in Wigmore back in the 1980's/1990's.
