The noise impact - planes taking off and landing when people are trying to sleep. It will disturb sleep patterns which impacts mental health. The presumption that most take offs are to the west is not valid given 2 months of north easterlies and hot weather advice to open windows at night. Too much noise restricts sleep to a few hours per night. Not acceptable or tolerable. Air pollution. From the planes and increased passenger numbers. Local roads will see a big impact in terms of traffic, air pollution, and accidents as a result of any increase. Our roads are lanes and not designed for a lot of traffic. Increased traffic and pollution will also impact wildlife and important toad migration routes in Whitwell and along Lilley bottom road. More planes over protected landscapes and historic garden designations. Climate impact. We need to decarbonise and restrict flights. Other airports have ceased to operate. This expansion is driven by the council needing funds from airport expansion to operate which is not acceptable. Heathrow wants to expand, we get flights from Heathrow over the village too. We don’t need more flights, we are in a climate emergency with air quality that is killing people.
