what is the evidence for demand for this increase in numbers? At a time of global climate crisis, we should not be increasing airport capacity and encouraging more flying. A better investment would be in rail services. luton rising is proposing a carbon neutral airport, but the expansion of the airport is to enable more people to fly, more flights, and therefore more emissions from aircract. This is not what we should be doing when we are in a climate catastrophe. From a planning perspective, the proposed expansion will materially and significantly impact the public amenity of the Parish - it will intrude on the day-to-day lives of everyone in the Parish. All local Councils (excluding Luton Borough Council) oppose the expansion, so why proceed with this. As Luton Borough Council owns the airport, it has an obvious vested interest in supporting this. This is corruption. The Application contains no measures to minimise the impact of building work or operations outside of Luton Borough. There is no long-term plan or compensation within the Application for villages or towns impacted by the expansion that are not within a small defined area. Luton Rising has stated it anticipates creating 12,000 jobs from the expansion. However, it has not provided details on how many jobs will be temporary (e.g. construction), ongoing operations (or the full-time/part-time/occasional split) or in the supply chain outside of the area (e.g. production and shipping of building materials). A potential 78% increase in the number of flights over the Parish. Increased aircraft noise pollution and vibration for the Parish and an increased frequency of those intrusions. It is highly likely that we would see an increase in the number of night flights to meet the passenger numbers from a single runway. Increased air pollution and emissions from aircraft. Increase traffic though the Parish driven by increased passenger numbers. A negative impact on the rural environment, its ecology and its biodiversity.
