The proposed expansion of London Luton Airport is raising several concerns among local residents. I believe this expansion needs to be put on hold, until technology advancement i.e. electric engines would replace old polluting planes. Luton infrastructure also is nowhere near to accept increase in traffic from 18 million to 32 million passengers per year. Some of the main concerns are: - Noise: The expansion would result in more flights, especially during early morning and late night hours, creating more noise disturbance for people living near the airport or under its flight paths. Noise can affect people's health, well-being and quality of life. - Air pollution: The expansion would increase the emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants from aircraft fuel, contributing to climate change and air quality problems. Air pollution can have serious effects on human health, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and elderly people. - Road traffic: The expansion would attract more road users to and from the airport, adding to the existing congestion and pollution on local roads. Road traffic can also pose safety risks for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.
