I am generally in favour of this expansion but feel strongly that this is a unique opportunity to maximise the benefits to the community. The following facilities should be investigated. Education centre – the airport is a fascinating and inspirational environment. Schools and Luton’s children need an on-site facility to engage their interest. Presently “education” is non-existent. Employment and Training Academy – all under one roof to co-ordinate apprenticeships, work experience, job opportunities and retraining. The Employment Training Strategy 2019 offered with this expansion offers little more without the focus of an Academy. Spectators Area – a very popular venue was demolished many years ago. The public were given no option – there is no reason why such an important social hub for many families should not return. As a publicly owned airport shouldn’t the public have a say ? Heritage Centre – the Airport has a fantastic manufacturing heritage - completely ignored.
