Historic England The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England (HBMCE) is better known as Historic England, and we are the Government’s adviser on all aspects of the historic environment in England, including historic buildings and areas, archaeology and historic landscapes. We have a duty to promote conservation, public understanding and enjoyment of the historic environment. We are an executive Non-Departmental public body and we answer to Parliament through the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Proposal Immingham Eastern Ro-Ro Terminal. Representation We note the record of pre-application discussions and the assessments made in respect of impacts on marine and terrestrial heritage assets / archaeological resource. The approach to marine archaeological mitigation set out in outline in the submitted Draft Written Scheme of Investigation appears appropriate subject to the submission and approval of subordinate detailed method statements. In respect of which for Marine archaeology we would be the curator (advisor to the decision maker). The approval of final marine archaeological method statements and appropriate archiving, reporting and publication should be secured through appropriate multi-part DCO requirements for staged discharge by the MMO (with the benefit of our advice).
