Dear Mr Phillipson

Further to your letter of 10.2.12, I can confirm the following:

  1. Stogursey Parish Council will be attending the preliminary meeting on 21.3.12
  2. Stogursey Parish Council will want to speak on all agenda items
  3. Councillor Peter Malim OBE will represent Stogursey Parish Council
  4. In addition to all of the issues already raised in our registration, we want to discuss an early site visit (in advance of Site Prep work) and an open floor session for Stogursey.

Kind regards,

Aly Prowse (Mrs) CLERK TO STOGURSEY PARISH COUNCIL

Advice given

Thank for your email regarding details of the Parish Council's attendance at the Hinkley Point C Preliminary Meeting. Our records have been updated accordingly.

We appreciate your concerns that the Examining Authority view the site and surrounding area as soon as possible due to the forthcoming commencement of the site preparation works and that you wish to raise this issue at the Preliminary Meeting.

Whether or not it is possible for the Examining Authority to view the site and surrounding area before the preparatory works get underway, interested parties are welcome to submit photographic evidence to the IPC if they feel that it would be relevant to points raised in their representations. This photographic evidence could be in connection with either the condition of the site or the amenity of the surrounding area prior to the consented preliminary works being implemented.

We also note your comments regarding the lack of reference to Stogursey within the recent Rule 4 / 6 Procedural Decision setting out the draft information on how the examination is proposed to be examined. The absence of an open floor hearing at Stogursey should not be interpreted as meaning that the Examining Authority will not have regard to representations about the effects the proposal on the community. In arriving at its recommendation the Examining Authority will have regard to all relevant and important matters.
