My concern is that there appears to be no body whose job will be to reduce the visual impact of buildings, pylons, diggings and industrial machinery. We have pylons already, and ugly things they are. If there are to be further power lines run in from offshore, the very least that can be done to reduce the visual impact would be to run the power lines underground. Similarly buildings could be sympathetically sited, designed, and concealed to minimise the industrialising effect of heavy power installations. I am asking for an assurance that an authority will be created to take responsibility for minimising impact on the local people and countryside. As at present, I have no confidence that such a consideration is being taken seriously. John Giles (Revd. Canon)
