Traffic management will be critical in controlling the negative environmental, noise and delay impact that will result from six days per week hauling of materials to and from the development site. 500 vehicle movements a day or more. The design of new road junctions appears to rely on old fashioned roundabouts where all vehicles entering this type of junction risk having to stop. This can be avoided by designing a layout where the flow for the heavily traffic road, in this case the A12, is given a pass through lane to the side of the roundabout. This design is used in other parts of the Uk but of course costs more to construct. Given the number of years that more heavy vehicles will be using the A12, A1094 and other roads, the onus should be placed on the developer, Scottish Power, to fund any additional costs in providing efficient junctions. I would be happy to provide sketch drawings to demonstrate the above design.
