[Redacted] I have read the most recent representations from Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk District Council, and Friston Parish Council / SASES, and am in agreement with them. I am especially concerned that if these particular plans by SPR are approved, a succession of future projects will also seek to connect to the national grid at Friston. The interconnectors Nautilus and Eurolink have already been instructed to do so by National Grid plc. This will result in “temporary” disruption due to construction activity lasting for more than a decade. Other issues: Landscape: Vast scale of structures and footprint. Inability to screen with realistic tree growth rates. Close proximity to community of Friston. Utilitarian structures situated on relatively high ground, extensively visible. Local Economy: No local benefit, significant impact on important tourist economy, likely loss of businesses and jobs. Local Amenities: Impact on village walks. Impact on coastal path and sandlings walk. Impact on cycle routes. Noise: Impact during construction and operational phases. Tonal noise will be continuous and invasive to domestic residences. Low present background sound levels. Health: Dust and pollution during construction. Reduction in air quality. Impact on a personal existing respiratory condition, possible need to relocate on health grounds. Mental health issues in affected communities. Light: Presently a dark sky area. Requirement for security lighting during construction and operation. Flooding: Underestimated by SPR. Entire construction site and 1km of cable route in Friston water catchment area. Present drainage system through village is at capacity. Heritage: Impact at landfall construction site. Invasive of AONB. Listed buildings in proximity to cable route and substation site. R A Brooks
