I am writing to object to Scottish Power's proposed substation at Friston and the attendant disruption: 1. The Suffolk Coasts and Heaths AONB is acknowledged as one of the most precious natural landscapes and wildlife habitats in the UK. Swathes of it are being sacrificed to this project in particular and to an energy policy that is not backed up by a clearly articulated, long-term climate strategy in general. 2. Taking into account the additional construction of Sizewell C within the next few years, the area's road infrastructure will buckle under the volume of traffic which will also bring increased pollution levels and long road delays. 3. The area does not have the community infrastructure (housing, schools, medical centres, public transport capacity, parking facilities) to support the huge numbers of workers who will move into the area. 4. Suffolk needs significant numbers of long-term, quality jobs rather than fixed term jobs, the vast majority of which will disappear once the building project is complete. 3. Are offshore substations being considered?
