We are in favour of sustainable energy projects, but we cannot support these plans. They will have an unacceptable impact in every way on Aldeburgh and its neighbouring towns. There is no coordinated overall national strategy. One development will follow another (East Anglia north and East Anglia two). They will result in years of upheaval locally, with cable runs being dug, filled in, and then new cable runs having to be dug to cater for the next phase. The proposed development, of Sizewell 2 is being considered separately, so is also not part of a national strategy, and coming at a similar time to these wind farm developments will put even more pressure on the local ecology, water resources, traffic, businesses and residents. A previous wind farm development was meant to include provision for future expansion, but failed to. How was that allowed to happen? The proposed working hours, which include Saturdays, will allow heavy traffic to destroy tourism in Aldeburgh - not enough account has been taken of that. But, above all, we require a co-ordinated strategy to minimise the impact.
