With regard to allowing landfall at Thorpeness and siting Substations for EA1N and EA2 so many miles inland from the coast, these are great concerns for us on two levels. 1. The devastating impacts on our rural communities and landscape ? We are aware of the opposition to the project from all of the local parish councils, informed by subject matter experts and through local knowledge. ? We support the Representations submitted in particular by by our Parish Council (Aldringham-cum-Thorpe), SASES and Friston Parish Council. 2. The impact on us individually ? We would have construction work at our door step for several years, possibly as long as 10 years if EA1N and EA2 are not constructed at the same time (we note that the DCO if approved would provide consent for each project for up to 7 years). ? The consequence would be daily nerve grinding inconvenience and also loss of value to our property. This has already been made evident through pre-examination construction work Archaeological excavation work recently carried out close to our home - with Compounds and Site Access only 5 metres distance from our property. ? This is only one of several large energy projects whose Developers are planning to install Cable Corridors and large Substations and Converters in the the same small rural area (approximately 5 square miles) of the East Suffolk coast between Thorpeness, Sizewell and Friston village. The consequence would be the placement of a massive Energy Hub at Friston. There is no evidence of ANY master plan behind this nor of any central coordination of the various Developer projects. We understand that PINS DCO Examination process does not support the examination of several projects and their cumulative impact unless they have all been fully scoped out. ? In this case, we ask that the Panel considers the cumulative impact of EA1N, EA2, National Grid Ventures’ Nautilus Interconnector project (already granted a Grid connection at Friston) and EDF Sizewell C nuclear power stations (DCO due Q3 2020).
