The roads around Wisbech and on the A47 are already congested. Tailbacks of traffic to and from and along the A47 are often several miles. The frequency of the tailbacks gets worse in the late Spring, Summer and early Autumn with holiday traffic going to and from the North Norfolk coast. Moreover there is no resilience in the routes around and through Wisbech. Even a minor accident brings gridlock. The position of the incinerator, given prevailing winds, means that often it’s exhaust will blow directly over heavily populated areas. Any rainfall would add to the risk of pollution. There is ample open space in the fens. Position it such the traffic is directed away from what is already a bottleneck and that the use of pollution to a heavily popular area is minimized.
