I do not support this proposal . I believe Rampion have failed to inform the local community of the real consequences or effects of choosing this site, or properly considered any alternatives. My concerns are: 1. The visual impact of the site locally from both the footpath network, local roads and from the South Downs national park. 2. Is the site really going to be as efficient as predicted and importantly be viable to operate. Will it need constant upgrading during its lifetime. 3. Increased traffic through the village. The local lane next work is unsuitable for the increase in traffic and size of vehicles during both construction and later operation. The A272 and A281 will become increasingly busy with consequent increase in pollution. 4. Lack of environmental controls both during the construction and subsequent operation. Presently, this area has abundant wildlife, but I believe this will suffer unduly. Hedgerows and trees will be removed and the area permanently blighted by this industrial complex. How many of the construction vehicles will be zero emission ? 5. How will the businesses around the site survive during the construction of the site and later in its lifecycle. 6. Little local employment. 7. Researched is required into the electromagnetic fields produced by the cables which can cause health effects. Apart from human effect, the electrostatic coupling & electromagnetic interference of high voltage transmission lines have impact on plants and telecommunication equipment. 8. A lack of proper engagement and communication with the local community, both from Rampion and the local council. A missed opportunity.
