I am particularly concerned about the environmental impact of the proposed cable route that runs past Cratemans farm, through lowland water meadows and blackthorn scrub, which is rich in biodiversity. Nightingales nest in the overgrown hedges and blackthorn scrub in the spring and the meadows are full of insects in the summer. I am also concerned about the siting of the sub station and battery storage area, as this is also in an area that is rich in wildlife. I am also concerned about the destruction of the protected areas of sea bed, where the wind turbines are to be sited and I am doubtful as to how much carbon emissions will be saved, as opposed to how much carbon will be released into the atmosphere, during the construction process, i.e. digging up the sea bed, pouring in tons of concrete, construction of the turbines, digging a 35 mile trench, cutting down ancient trees, the traffic disruption and increased emissions.
