I have attended a presentation by RWE on the Rampion 2 project and have studied their plans quite thoroughly. The key issues that were raised at the meeting by opponents were NOT properly answered by the company representatives, and crucial issues and facts about the serious harm they will inflict upon the seabed. the numerous sea-life around the installation area and the cabling work off-shore and on-shore were smoothed over with various weak responses. None of which, to any fair minded person made any sense or felt that it was taken seriously. The efficacy of the power that this project would deliver to the national grid was also a major point made by highly qualified experts. They showed very clearly that the actual benefit of Rampion2 would at best not deliver the electricity levels that RWE claimed. This was backed up by the actual and known levels of power from Rampion1 , which are at best only a third of what it should deliver. There are clearly much better sites for such a off-shore project around the UK . Areas with much more significant and consistant wind power, areas that would not have any impact of our sea-life and sea-bed, our bird migration, our coastline or ourselves. Areas that can automatically feed into existing UK grid points, and prevent further on shore damaging effects to our scenery, our wildlife and natural habitat, our tourism and businesses, our everyday lives. This project is clearly a moneymaking project for RWE, who have a record in Europe of over-promising and causing serious damage to areas they have scarred with off-shore projects. I strongly advise and hope the Examining Executive will stand back and see what harm this project will do to West Sussex now and for generations to come, and turn down this application for it to be taken to areas where all the issues and damage will not apply. I am not against any form of renewable scheme and also not a Nimby person. I am a realist and have spent a considerable amount of time going through all the data, the impacts and the benefits of this project, and I honestly feel if Rampion2 was to be approved, it will be a legacy that anyone involved in it's approval will in the years to come. live to regret their involvement.
