I am concerned about the proposal to spend huge amounts of public money on unproven technologies for carbon capture which will take far longer to establish at scale (even if they do work) than we have available to turn the tide on emissions. This money could be much spent better investing in proven effective renewables or other mitigation activities. The evidence that DRAX's biofuel activity, as it would claim, is carbon neutral/green is significantly lacking, and I have concerns around the environmental and health impacts of their current and proposed work both locally and abroad. I am concerned that legitimising unproven carbon capture technology ventures through these huge investments creates a justification for delayed/dampened down mitigation activities in the hope we can account for this in years to come. We do not have that time to spare.
