BECCS is not a sound, renewable system. It is based on burning trees, emitting greenhouse gases at every stage from felling, pellet making, transportation to final burning to make electricity. BECCS burns the very things that store carbon that take decades to grow. To say wood offcuts are used is disingenuous: Forests are cut. Carbon Capture and Storage is extremely expensive and uses energy. The whole system is destructive to people and environment. It also requires massive subsidy by the UK exchequer. No way is BECCS good for the planet, environment, people or the public purse.
