Thank you for your consultation regarding the above development. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) (formerly Public Health England) welcomes the opportunity to comment on your proposals at this stage of the Nationally significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). Advice offered by UKHSA and OHID is impartial and independent. We can confirm that: With respect to Registration of Interest documentation, we are reassured that earlier comments raised by us on 6th December 2021 have been addressed. In addition, we acknowledge that the Environmental Statement (ES) has not identified any issues which could significantly affect public health. UKHSA/OHID are satisfied with the methodology used to undertake the environmental assessment but notes the ongoing discussions between the Environment Agency (EA) and other relevant agencies regarding the precise makeup of the proprietary solvents proposed for use in the carbon capture process. UKHSA is satisfied that the risk assessment approach is appropriate and in line with emerging evidence; UKHSA also notes the proposed development will require a variation to the existing Environmental Permit from the EA to operate and that further risk assessment of the potential emissions from the carbon capture process and solvents will form part of that permitting process. Following our review of the submitted documentation we are satisfied that the proposed development should not result in any significant adverse impact on public health. On that basis, we have no additional comments to make at this stage and can confirm that we have chosen NOT to register an interest with the Planning Inspectorate on this occasion. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
