I have read the Government's proposal to build the Drax power station and the various objections against it. I agree with the following grounds for objection and think that this project should be cancelled and the finance identified to build it redirected to alternative non-polluting methods of energy production. My objections are based on evidence that carbon capture of CO2 will take 28% of all the energy produced by each unit. This is unnecessarily wasteful. There are identifiable risks to human health by use of the chemical amine and its by-products. There will be significant impact on local communities and wildlife for over 4 years. There are obvious equally efficient, non-polluting alternatives that can be used instead.
