I am not aware that that the carbon cost of forestry, milling and transport of woodchip is included in assessing the overall benefit of Drax. I am not aware that Drax burns only waste wood. Waste wood could better be composted than burnt if we are to prevent adding C02 to the atmosphere. Has the risk of producing carcinogens from the chemicals used to clean the flues been assessed? Does the process need to be assessed on a small scale, if it is unproven? The cost-efficiency and carbon efficiency of burning wood needs to compared with that of wind, solar, tidal, hydro-storage and geothermal projects for a true assessment of whether Drax is sustainable.
