Dear Madam or Sir, On 30th August 2022 the Applicant (DRAX Power Ltd) informed Leeds City Council that they had not been notified about the opportunity to make Relevant Representations on the above application. The applicant has offered further time to allow for this. I can confirm that Leeds City Council would like to make a relevant representation. I can advise you that Leeds City Council offers its support to the proposal, the purpose of which is to capture and store carbon dioxide emissions from up to two of the existing biomass units at Drax Power Station. This accords with current national and local planning objectives to appropriately manage such emissions and, therefore, meets Leeds City Council’s aspirations for improving local air quality as well as meeting other climate change objectives. We will leave the matter of assessing the application’s finer detail to yourselves and the Council/s who’s districts cover the proposed site. Whilst we are content for you to take account of this representation, there is no need for us to be present at any future inquiry. I hope this is acceptable to you. If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me by email. Kind regards Louise White Planning Team Leader (Minerals, Waste and Energy) Development Management Leeds City Council. www.leeds.gov.uk
