I am a big supporter of renewal energy, however I do not support this new solar farm, for multiple reasons. The land is prime for agricultural use, and repurposing it for a solar farm could in future impact on our food security, especially with climate change. There is so much roof space that could be used for solar panels, it just does not make sense to me that you would destroy our local countryside when there are better alternatives available. The only reason I can see for this is for profit, and at the expense of our quality of life. The local countryside is beautiful and having a solar farm of this scale, will really destroy this for all local people. The road network locally is already at breaking point, with the Walton bypass still not built and Chetwynd bridge weight limited. The local roads cannot sustain any additional pressure, especially from even more HGVs. The traffic in the villages is so busy, producing lots of fumes and is often gridlocked, it is already untenable, this is due to the bottlenecks, and increased traffic, with no investment in the road infrastructure required. The local area suffers greatly from flooding already and I am concerned that further developments of this type could exacerbate the problem.
