Main impacts are the total loss of a huge portion of green rural countryside. Destruction of open countryside vital for our wellbeing and health. I currently reside on the new housing development, formally the power station. There’s already a huge solar farm situated here with plenty more land to accommodate the proposed farm. However, it would have seemed to make more sense to build the solar farm where my house is at the moment rather than destroy existing countryside and make it inaccessible. I imagine there will be a high level of security present here so the idea that “new pathways” will be made between rosliston and Walton is ludicrous. There already is a pathway there. Including bridleways, and the ability to roam. I would be more open to a smaller farm being built but the scale of this is shocking. Compulsory purchase orders of residents property, some of whom are elderly (in their 90’s) is appalling. There is a vast amount of green land, forestry and nature already decimated by HS2, could this land not be better served to house solar farms? How about utilising some of the flood plain areas, which are already inaccessible to the public? Given the amount of planning and effort required to send trucks through the fields as proposed I can’t imagine a little bit of engineering and bespoke design couldn’t be afforded to bring the flood plains into usable land.
