I wish to register my objection to the proposal of Oaklands Farm Solar Ltd to be built between the villages Rosliston, Walton on Trent and Coton in the Elms. The thought of digging up hedgerows & trees and covering 400 acres of prime agricultural land with concrete, destroying the wildlife habitats is madness. May I point out that all of the villages mentioned have in the last few years suffered from flooding that has not occurred to such an extent in the past but due to the ever more building on fields with no run off for the water is on the rise. As a HGV Driver, apart from the roads having a 7.5 tonne weight limit, they are very small and narrow and will be a nightmare for the Drivers and cause havoc to the roads, which are already in an appalling state. At this time with the war between Russia and Ukraine and the unrest in the Middle East we surely need to maintain all the agricultural land so we are not reliant on others for our foods in the future. Who can predict what the world will be like in 40 years time, hopefully we won’t be looking back on this project, and like HS2 can’t believe the damage we have caused the pollution and destruction of viable agricultural farm land in the countryside.
