(1) Some solar thermal systems can leak hazardous fluids into the environment i.e. soil. (2) Even low level smoke from the panels can contain toxic metals and be inhaled by the community causing harm to digestive and nervous systems. (3) Security lighting and noise levels will cause pollution for residents and wildlife. (4) Grade 1, 2 and 3a land should NOT be used. (5) The amenity of neighbouring properties will be harmed by intrusive CCTV coverage. (6) Water birds will get confused by the panels thinking it is water. Swallows and Martins, who are on the Red List (endangered) will also be at risk as they drink on the wing. (7) It will be more difficult for predators to hunt their natural prey. (8) Rosliston and our surrounding villages are currently suffering badly by increased Heavy Goods traffic due to a massive increase in house building which could all have solar roof panels as a matter of course at the planning stage. (9) Experts have dismissed any notion that animals can happily graze underneath solar panels as completely false.
