I am due to move into the local area of Rosliston in a few days and OPPOSE this proposal for the Oaklands Farm Solar project. The land on which this proposal is planned is high Quality Farmland which will be lost if this proposal is approved. This farmland is also a hugely important habitat for the local wildlife . The farm will create a huge eyesore on the landscape, and will create a real problem with glare for local residents and passing motorists. Industrialising our green space in this way in unacceptable, and will scar the scenery of this beautiful county for decades, affecting everyone who lives there, everyone who travels through the area, and damaging tourism on which derbyshire is very reliant - who wants to visit an area with a massive commercial eyesore like a solar farm ? There is a need for the UK to be self sufficient with regard to energy, but there is a higher need for the UK to be self sufficient in food production. There are other areas far more suitable and less damaging to site a proposal like this. This is not about benefiting the wider community - it is solely about lining the pockets of a few , to the detrement of the masses. The construction traffic which would be required for this project is completely unsuitable for the local roads and small lanes, and will be another huge issue for Rosliston and the surrounding villages. Please DO NOT approve this application.
