The area already has a significant loss of good quality farmland due to building houses, industrial units, HS2 and other solar farms. The roads in and around Coton in the Elms are unsuitable for abnormal loads as Coal Pit Land and Lullington Road are single track in places. Extensive flooding already occurs in the area. Local roads are already under stress due to Increased commuting and frequent disruption on M42 and A38. Local roads are suffering significant wear and tear. Due to the bridges at Croxall and Walton on Trent being unsuitable for large vehicles this has caused additional traffic through the local villages. The villages of Coton in the Elms, Walton on Trent and Rosliston are in the National Forest where the footpaths by many walkers. 16m swathe of trees will be removed within the National Forest. A vast quantity of hedging will be removed. Both these provide significant habitats for native species of fauna that is already under threat due to the increased industrialisation and building within the local area. Putting solar panels on the roofs of the large industrial buildings that have been and continue to be built is surely a much more sensible, sensitive to the environment and acceptable suggestion.
