I think that the idea of putting solar panels on imported agricultural land defeats the point of the country side It will greatly reduce the biodiversity that has evolved over 100s of years and it something that can’t be put back once it’s gone by a few trees and hedges. The whole project will take two years to build, which will mean the local roads will take a heavy battering and they are already becoming pot hold by regular traffic, and the the amount of heavy goods vehicles needed per day ( there and back) will increase the damage, it’s said that they will not use local roads but we know that they get lost or want a quick finish, they will go the best route for them. The noise from the generators is something that needs to be addressed, they say that it will be set back as far as possible and screened by trees, but trees take years to grow, what happens in the mean time, a constant hum 24h a day 365 days a year ! Glint and glare from the panels themselves on the undulating land , can cause accidents and be unsightly for everyone having a lovely drive through the countryside, after all it is surrounded by the national forest. The roads around this area suffer in the winter from heavy rainfall and can be flooded on many occasions, will the rain be flowing off the unused fields ? How and where will the storage be for the power produced? What are the risks to natural habitats and wildlife and humans, what fire risks are there and how will they be felt with ? Maintaining these panels and the substation will need to be addressed as that will be ongoing for as many years as they are here. My family have lived in the beautiful area since 1989, it is the reason they moved here, this project will devalue our homes and our way of life and why would I want to live there surrounded by solar panels.
