I am deeply concerned about the loss of prime agricultural land to solar panels when an equivalent number could be placed upon existing or new buildings in any location across the country. Placing solar panels on agricultural land is just a short way of circumventing using existing infrastructure for placing solar panels. It also removes agricultural land from production when the UK desperately needs to produce more of its own food without more intensive (environment damaging or environmentally "loading") other areas to make up lost production. Solar panels can and should be placed on ALL new buildings during their construction by enforced regulation instead of using green field sites.
