I am against this project for a number of reasons: - On a massive scale it will industrialise with black panels a large area of the local landscape. - This will remove agricultural land from use for food production. - This will hugely impact local biodiversity and wildlife. - This will be a huge blot on the landscape. It will remove the natural passing of the seasons from this area. I have asked to understand the level of immediate mitigation - for example, a 20m boundary of planted trees and shrubs around every affected field. I have had no reply to this and seen no commitment to do this. The area is so massive that it would become one of the largest solar fieldscapes in the world - unprecedented within Europe, let alone the UK. I consider this to be unacceptable in the UK - a country with already a very high ratio of built-up : rural land. I see no problem of grey field development of solar use - industrial roofs / canopy car parks etc. This would require negotiating and investing with multiple industrial landowners. By comparison, rural farmers are a much easier target, but the impact is far greater and longer term. In my opinion this company are only interested in a fast profit. They will not be here to suffer the long term impacts of their proposal.
