Having reviewed the proposals my belief is that the balance of national energy needs and carbon reduction commitments outweigh what are primarily local concerns around visual impacts and construction disruption. Respondents to date are a small proportion of the affected population and yet seem to be driving the conversation. It would be great if a more methodical method of canvassing could be used to get an accurate feel of local will. There are still issues that need to be resolved and I do feel that Mallard Pass Solar Farm Ltd could do more to sell the benefits of the development to the local community. For example woodland wildlife corridors and a designated public park to showcase the subsequent improvement in biodiversity. Visual impacts from homes could be mitigated with good landscaping and strategic tree planting. If local opposition continues to impair national plans for Climate Change mitigation, and future energy generation we will see considerable damage to our future prospects as individuals and as a nation.
