This proposal would cover an unprecedented vast swathe of prime agricultural land. At a time when as a country, we are aiming to maximise food production, it is perverse to cover such a huge area with solar panels. This would cause major environmental and agricultural disturbance to a large acreage for relatively short term energy production. I understand the need for renewable energy and think it would be more effective to invest in long term reliable tidal energy production. Before this proposal is even considered, every hectare of factory and business roof area should be utilised for solar panels before covering agricultural land.
