I am greatly concerned that the 2 year construction phase will involve very considerable numbers of LGVs using Essendyne Road and roads through Greatford, Belmesthorpe, Ryhall, Barholm etc, many of which are only just wide enough for an 8’ 5” wide HGV. My friend and I both use these roads on our e-bikes every day weather permitting. It is dangerous enough when cars and vans pass us. It is impossible on Essendyne Road for an HGV and an e-bike to pass and the verges are already badly potholed and very dangerous for a cyclist.[Redacted] I can hardly walk but can cycle on my e-bike for miles to get very necessary exercise, as well as the quiet enjoyment of our green and pleasant countryside and fertile farmland. All this will be lost if the planned massive solar farm project goes ahead. I am also concerned by the greatly increased risk of rainwater runoff causing flooding as it drains towards the river Gwash. I am concerned at the prospect of compulsory purchase of properties in Essendyne and the general reduction of property values in the locality of the enormous solar panel array. The loss of fertile agricultural land is also a damaging prospect, probably increasing the demand for imported grains as they have been increased in cost, inter alia, [Redacted] invasion of Ukraine.
