- Rutland is the smallest county in England and already has the 2nd largest man made reservoir in England which did take hundreds of acres of farming land and villages . Forty two years on, the reservoir has bought tourism and helped the local economy . What will the solar farm will bring to Rutland and the villages just over the border absolute destruction of our villages, heritage, roads and good arable land. Surely with the Ukraine war, haven't we learnt that we need to be self sufficient for farming our own food, not only now but for the future. Solar farms should be erected on land that does not have other uses and not next to homes and communities which will affect all of our lives in so many ways including the worry of de-valueing homes, our well being and mental health. All our beautiful churches and architecture that we are trying to preserve for our heritage will be lost , who wants to live or visit a county full of solar panels. Solar panels are now way down the list for power, the way forward is wind turbines, hydrogen and nuclear.
