As much as we need clean energy, covering prime agricultural land is not the answer. 1. Where will the food come from that this land would produce? 2. Has the environmental impact of growing the food abroad & importing it been included in the carbon footprint calculations? 3. Food grown/produced abroad is often to lesser standards than here in the UK. 4. Why are the numerous households that are going to be supplied with the electricity from the proposed solar park not all given a share of the profits rather than going to a faceless corporation. 5. When energy requirement is at it's peak the solar parks production will be at it's lowest. Where will the energy come from to meet this shortfall? 6. I am sure the builders of the solar park are going to put lots of wildlife projects in place , but such a huge construction project will no doubt displace lots of wildlife. 7. At the end of the solar parks life who is responsible for dismantling it all? 8. Will everything be recyclable? I have been told some solar panels contain asbestos. 9. Will all the land be returned to full agricultural use? There are undoubtedly huge profits to be made judging by the amount of effort that is being invested & the massive guaranteed rents offered to the landowners. Wouldn't smaller community led projects be more acceptable?
