In my opinion solar farms are not a good solution to our clean energy needs. There are 27 million households in the UK and many of these could have rooftop solar, not to mention the many often very large industrial units which could have very large solar installations on their roofs. I would not object if this were an on-shore wind farm project. This project will: not be good for wild life Restrict public access to the land be an eyesore potentially increase the flood risk in an already flood-prone area Cause great disruption while it is built Have a very large carbon footprint of its own especially from the steel frames the panels will sit on and any concrete used as foundations, vehicles and machines used to build it and remove it at the end of its service life. Mallard Pass Solar Farm will use agricultural land that is better used for food production It will be bad for wildlife, an eyesore and unpleasant for locals to live with. Rooftop solar and onshore wind are better policies to pursue for green energy
