This vast project (2000+) acres will be a dominant feature of the surrounding area. it will be built, in part, on what is good agricultural land which in the long term interests of the country as a whole should be used for growing food. It will also cause significant disruption to the surrounding area because of the heavy vehicles needed to transport materials to the site both during the lengthy construction phase and beyond. It seems many of the materials will be of Chinese origin, or have Chinese components, produced in circumstances that are dubious from a human rights point of view. All in all this is a really bad proposal that will have a considerable negative impact on this part of Rutland.
