The Mallard Pass Solar PV project impacts several local villages on an unprecedented scale in the UK. The loss of prime farmland and stunning local countryside will impact the local area both in terms of house values and in terms of countryside amenity. This project, although billed as “green” is anything but green. It represents failure of national policy on solar PV facilities which should mandate use on existing and new buildings and not on farmland. I cannot in all honesty this level of countryside vandalism. I do not support “not in my back yard” behaviour but this project is breathtaking in its scale and government needs to think just how much of our land and should be sacrificed for power generation.
