I wish to express my utter dismay at the proposed Mallard Pass solar farm. I live and have lived in Great Casterton, a village very close to the proposed farm since 1995. I chose to live in a village in order to enjoy the wildlife and countryside around. I and my husband are keen cyclists and our main routes pass through this large area of green countryside. The unknown long term damage these vast acres of solar panels will make to the area added to the distress to the local wildlife will I believe far outweigh any very short term perceived benefit to harnessing solar energy. I have yet to see any complete cost benefit analysis of solar panels that actually looks at the entire production process from raw material extraction to supporting chinese manufacturing (using fossil fuels). The life span of these panels, the huge rare metal extraction required for solar energy battery storage must be included in any such analysis & I do not believe that this is so. The amount of local people & villages this will affect using this land for such a project is inequitable compared with the ambitions of a very few who seek huge financial gain either through land rental or "green subsidies" which are taken from local tax payers as well as the rest of the country. I am completely against any such proposal.
