I am concerned that there are no local benefits to be had with this solar installation, whilst the implications and disadvantages will fall on the population of the area, all the benefits will go to add to the coffers of big business. This scheme should only be allowed if everyone living in a 10 mile radius would get energy at cost price. As I see it, once the national grid get their hands on it, it will be sold back to us at world market prices and the rich will get richer. As well as being a driver I also spend a lot of time cycling and frequently pass the solar farm sites, they are already being developed and it doesn't take much imagination as to the future of the area, the quiet roads and lanes will no longer be quiet, where there are now fields and woodland, there will be tarmac roads, fences, and what about security. There is a diverse wildlife population which will be displaced. All right, solar power will help but the whole thing needs thinking through.
