This is not the major source of energy the UK requires. There is currently no proposed provision for continuous energy supply for every 24 hour period from solar farms. There is no resilience in this system. It does not provide the energy security that the UK needs. The proposal does not provide the storage system that would enable power to be provided throughout each 24 hour period and in all weathers. The Company proposing this development is linked to the Chinese government. No Uk infrastructure should be owned in any part by the Chinese. We need not only energy security but also national infrastructure security. The huge acquisition of prime agricultural land is not offset by the projects outcome of energy security for the nation. The loss of biodiversity and the potential damage to the environment is also not offset by the prospect of energy security. Each solar panel requires a concrete base. Thousands of tons of concrete will be poured into the site; the energy input will be immense and the energy outcome of the plan incomplete.
