Apart from the fact this is right in the middle of several villages when it could be built anywhere more remote with less impact and protest from locals - there is land that is unsuitable for farming or living elsewhere, use that perhaps: 1. its a huge project, why locate this near where people live; 2. loss of productive farmland and natural habitat, with huge impact on local wildlife and biodiversity; 3. it will convert a beautiful landscape into an eyesore for locals; 4. the construction will be damaging to local infrastructure, with a huge traffic impact - the council already can't afford to maintain highways and byways, this will add pressure; 5. by removing habitat and replacing with industrial use, you will increase floodrisk in an area already susceptible to flood; 6. I understand this is being completed by a Chinese firm - is that a good idea given the geopolitical situation and wouldn't we rather at least encourage local enterprise to be involved in this sort of project, who better appreciate and understand local concerns - the government is morally bankrupt, so saying any of this is probably a waste of time, which is the final concern, as who will actually care about those affected most in your relentless pursuit of "clean" energy. This isn't clean, you are simply exporting the damage to another location where all of the materials will have to be mined and equipment produced.
